A PAIR of Disney princesses are hoping for a fairytale fundraising ending when they take part in this year's Race for Life.
Jade Gibbons, six, and Hannah Andrew, seven, raised more than £500 for Cancer Research UK by running the 5km course at Down Grange sports complex in Basingstoke last year.
The pair, who both attend Four Lanes Infant School, in Hanmore Road, Chineham, came up with the idea last year after both having experience of either relatives who have suffered from cancer, or increased risk of the disease, in their family.
Hannah, of Clere Gardens, Chineham, is dressing up as Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, and Jade, of Ajax Close, Chineham, is dressing up as Cinderella for this year's event.
Hannah's stepmum Jenny Andrew also plans to join the girls, although she hasn't yet decided on her costume.
Mrs Andrew's nail technician, Fiona Sewell, is also set to take part in the Race for Life on June 22, as is her daughter Jordan, who will continue the princess theme.
"The girls really enjoyed themselves last year and are hoping to smash their fundraising target of £1,000," said Mrs Andrew.
The fundraisers have already got more than £500 in the pot - and you can sponsor the girls by visiting their web page at www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/chinehamprincesses08
l Registration for this year's Race for Life event, supported by The Gazette, is open and, so far, 4,169 people have signed up. There are 1,081 places left for the event, which is held at Down Grange sports complex on Sunday, June 22, at 11am.
